How to Find an OEM Fastener Number
An OEM number is a reference assigned by a vehicle manufacturer. It is one of the fastest ways to narrow a clip search, but the dimensions should still be confirmed before ordering.
Check the original fastener
Some larger retainers have a number molded into the head or stem. Clean the part and inspect it under strong light. Very small clips may not carry a readable number.
Use a vehicle parts diagram
Dealer diagrams and manufacturer parts catalogs can identify the fastener used at a specific bumper, fender, splash-shield or trim-panel position. Confirm the diagram matches the model year and trim.
Search multiple number formats
Try the reference exactly as shown, then repeat the search without spaces or hyphens. For example, a catalog may display the same reference with different punctuation.
Do not rely on the number alone
Superseded numbers and shared applications are common. Compare the compatible hole size, head diameter, stem length and fastener mechanism with the original part.
